When to hike in the Arctic Circle Region
The main hiking window in Greenland is from mid-June to late-September. For those wanting to hike with snowshoes, another window of February to April will usually give the best conditions.
Outside of these times, hiking more difficult as:
- the weather is very unpredictable
- there is a high possibility of slippery ice patches, particularly on north-facing slopes
- the lakes have not yet iced over or the ice is starting to melt/become unstable
- trails can be very boggy due to melting snow
You hike our trails at your own risk, so please make sure you have sufficient experience and the correct equipment.
